In January 2009, after a particularly spectacular paddle out at Cape Woolamai, Stewart thought that it would be fantastic to be able to share with others the beauty of Phillip Island from the water. Well, one and a half years later and that aspiration became a reality.
Pioneer Kayaking is a fun and professional family run company that was born from a great passion for sea kayaking, the natural environment, and a desire to share these experiences with others.
Book a TourDuring term time, Stewart is a PE and Outdoor Education teacher at Newhaven College on Phillip Island where he and his family have lived for the last 14 years. Prior to that Stewart was living and working as a PE teacher in Aberdeen, Scotland for 6 years where he was able to combine his passion of travel, the outdoors and wearing kilts! An experienced kayaker, adventurer and all round good guy, Stewart is sure to make your experience with Pioneer Kayaking one to remember…
Brodie is the definitive people person. He is a born and bred "Islander" and knows every nook and cranny of Millowl. He can direct you to the best beaches and bays and is equally knowledgeable about the local bars and bistros! Brodie is an Outdoor Educator and is a product of Newhaven College. He suffered the misfortune of having Stewart as a teacher and continues the torture by working side by side with him at Pioneer Kayaking. Brodie is a big traveller and will happily talk about his travels all day long. He will also listen to all of your stories as you paddle around to see the sights and hear the sounds of Phillip Island. He will definitely make your guided tour a highlight and a memorable experience.
Matt is a long time lover of adventure and has an extensive list of personal highlights from numerous locations both home and abroad. He is the ultimate "BP" - the quiet achiever. He is a calm, unflappable character that will immediately put you at ease before and during your kayak tour. He is a filmmaker, photographer and nature enthusiast, amongst numerous other talents. He will share his vast knowledge as you paddle with him, so I recommend the 3 hour tour! Matt will keep you safe and sound and return you to the beach with a huge smile and a positive experience under your belt.
